Sun City Facts, History, and Local Events

Sun City, Nevada, is a set of communities in Las Vegas, Clark County. There is more than one distinct community, with distinct and characteristic amenities and facilities that makes up Sun City, Nevada. For example, there is Sun City, Summerlin, an age restricted master planned community. Built in 1999, by Del Webb as an active retirement community for Southern Nevada, Sun City Summerlin is restricted to people over nineteen, and all permanent resident families must have at least one member of age 55 or older.

Area Map Sun City, Summerlin is spread over more than 2,000 acres, and is home to over 14,000 people. The community offers many kinds of amenities to its residents and their guests, including three world class golf courses. Designed by architect Greg Nash and golfer Billy Casper, these courses offer some of the best golfing in the area. The community also offers four different community centers for the use of its residents, along with more than one court for tennis and racquetball, and five swimming pools. Minutes from downtown Las Vegas and a short hop from the Strip, the community still manages to provide the peaceful charm of the Spring Mountain Range. It has over 7,500 homes set at 3,000 feet, among spreading green areas and extensive amenities.

Sun City Mesquite is another such development, also by Pulte Del Webb, to the immediate northwest of Mesquite.
