Noblesville, Indiana Area MapNoblesville is among the fastest growing urban areas not just in the Midwest, but the entire nation, making it the perfect location to start a business. In the last decade or so, the community has seen as much as a 40% growth in population, and a sea change in city demographics. The population has continued to climb, and existing as well as prospective businesses have been well served by the Economic Development Department of the city. With the right resources, the city helps businesses in all stages of development, from those looking to relocate, newly established businesses, or expansion seekers. Noblesville is primarily a young community, inhabited by families, and has a large school age population. The community has numerous quality public schools, a private school, a community college, and is within a half hour of six university campuses.

Noblesville is served by the school district of Noblesville Schools, which also serves the surrounding area. The district includes eleven schools, and focuses on supporting individual learning strategies in a safe and fun learning environment. The area that is Noblesville today was originally inhabited by Native American people. Around 1802, William Conner was the only settler here. He and his Delaware Indian wife had a trading post here, the first of its kind in central Indiana, and lived in the community's first log cabin. The actual history of the city dates to around 1818 when Hamilton County was purchased from the Native Indians by the government. In 1823 William Conner, with Josiah Polk, platted downtown Noblesville and it became the seat of Hamilton County in 1824. the community of Noblesville is possibly named after one of two people, state senator James Noble, or the fiancee of Josiah Polk, Lavinia Noble. The city was incorporated in 1851. The original home of William Conner is now the living historical museum, called Conner Prairie, in Fishers. The Conner family land has been restored to the original pioneer state and allows visitors to see the life of the settlers in the Midwest in the early 19th century.

In 1851, when The Peru and Indianapolis Railroad came through the town, it added fresh impetus to the economic and population growth of Noblesville. A major growth boom also took place in 1888 when natural gas was discovered in the city. Industry boomed, and businesses and manufacturers flocked here to take ample advantage of the discovery. This period was one of prosperity, marked by the construction of beautiful Victorian homes and the Downtown Commercial District. A twist in the history of the city occurred in 1995 when a trunk containing numerous membership cards etc of the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan was discovered in an abandoned barn. The trunk contained papers revealing names of members, equipment, hoods, sashes, and more. These are preserved at the Hamilton County Historical Society.
