Kapalua Hawaii Quick Facts
Located right off the Pailolo Channel on the northern shores of the island of Maui, Kapalua, Hawaii, is a small town of about 500 residents, whose name loosely translated means "arms embracing the sea." The town is mostly a resort, beach town with three major rental units: the Kapalua Villas, and Kapalua Luxury Homes, and the Ritz-Carlton. It is home to The Bay Course and The Plantation Course, and the Kapalua Golf Academy, with the Plantation Course acting as annual host of the PGA Tour's season opener, the Mercedes-Benz Championship, each January. A number of traveling golf and tennis tournaments also make their way through Kapalua.
There are five beaches here: Kapalua Bay, D.T. Fleming Beach, Oneloa Beach, Honolua Bay and Mokuleia Bay. The town hosts events throughout the year like the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival, Whale Quest Kapalua and Celebration of the Arts. It is home to such attractions as the Kapalua Adventure Center and Ironwood Ranch, where visitors can partake in some horseback riding. There is also a large amount of farmland here, with Kapalua Farms Division owning 150 acres in town where they operate pineapple production, a produce and herb farm, free-range egg operation, tree nursery and compost operation.
