Kaneohe Hawaii Quick Facts

Located on the southeastern coast of Oahu, on the bay from which it takes its name, the town Kaneohe, Hawaii, is home to about 35,000 residents and is one of the two largest population centers on the windward side of the island. It is home to two higher-education institutions, Windward Community College and the Hawaii Pacific University's Windward Hawaii Loa campus. Medical services are provided to those in the area by the Hawaii State Hospital here. A number of public playgrounds are scattered throughout the village, and shopping excursions can be had at the Windward City Shopping Center and Windward Mall.

The town is north of the large Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden, and is home to the new Hawaii National Veterans Cemetery. Three golf courses can be enjoyed here: Pali Golf Course, Koolau Golf Club and Bayview Golf Park, as well as the Kaneohe Yacht Club. There are eight public elementary schools, one middle school and James B. Castle High School. In addition, there is the Hakipuu Learning Center, a 7-12 public charter school, and four private schools. The town is just southwest of a large Marine Corps base, and many residents have a family member involved in the military. Other popular industries here include public administration, education and health care.
