Kalaheo Hawaii Quick Facts
Located on the southwest side of Kauai island, Kalaheo, Hawaii, is a town slightly inland that is home to a population of over 4,000. Construction, education and tourism, including accommodation and food services, are the biggest industries in town. The closest access out of the island is the Lihue airport, about 12 miles away. The nearest hospital also lies around 12 miles away in Lihue. Kalaheo is home to such attractions as the Kukuiolono Golf Club, Spouting Horn Park, Kalawai Park and Kukuiolono Park.
Kalaheo is home to the quaint Kalaheo Cafe and Coffee Co. Kalahelo Elementary School operates for younger children here, and Kalaheo High School for older students. The National Tropical Botanical Garden stretches through Kalaheo, and the town has a high ownership rate, with nearly two-thirds of residents own their homes here. The town is located right off Highway 50 and was founded in 1860 by Duncan McBryde.
