The village of Wellington, Florida, is in Palm Beach County, just fifteen minutes from the West Palm Beach Airport. Originally the largest strawberry patch in the world, the village of Wellington was founded in the 1950s when C. Oliver Wellington, of the Flying Cow Ranch bought 18,000 acres of swampland in central Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County approved a planned unit development program for Wellington in 1972, and it began and continued as a bedroom community for many years. There was little to do, and almost no shopping centers or restaurants until wellington was incorporated in 1995. Recent development has seen a sea change in what the village has to offer. Combined with its small community appeal, charming village lifestyle, and access to recent modern developments, combined with a strong education system, makes Wellington a good place for people looking for a peaceful life, or to raise a family.
In the matter of Primary and secondary schools, for example, Wellington is served by The School District of Palm Beach County, and includes public schools like New Horizons Elementary School, Wellington Elementary School, Emerald Cove Middle School, Polo Park Middle School, Wellington High School, Palm Beach Central High School and many more.
