A year later, he returned with a group of colonists to build the Boynton Beach Hotel , which became his summer home. The workers recruited for the building on the Boynton hotel also brought their families to settle in the new town. The first settlers, realizing that a wide range of fruits and vegetables grew fabulously in the area, began growing tomatoes, pineapples, mangos, lemons and limes, oranges, and grapefruits to be crated and shipped across the country on the Florida East Coast Railroad.
