The county's fairgrounds are located here, as are two casinos and four museums, and there are five courses from which interested golfers can choose. A symphony holds quarterly performances. In warm weather, Lake Chabot is a popular destination, and Dan Foley Park provides spaces to frolic and enjoy the outdoors.

Twice in California's past Vallejo fulfilled the role of state capital, both times in the 1800s, and history here abounds. A handful of private schools and the public schools, which includes more than 15 elementary, four junior high and three high schools, serve the students in Vallejo. There are three hospitals operating in the city, offering residents an array of medical choices. At the heart of Northern California, famous for its wine, Vallejo is home to four wineries where residents and visitors can taste a variety of options.
