Tustin, Orange County is a city that has historical roots and was incorporated in 1926, which means that it is one of the perfect places to enjoy the history of the area. It boasts being on of the cities with the shortest commutes in Southern California and this is why Forbes believes it was the 2009 city to dwell in.

Tustin is the hub of engineering in California as you will find two blimp hangars that Tustin can safely brag to be the largest wooden structures ever erected anywhere and are still standing. This site is listed under the National Register of Historic Places as well as the ASCE List of Historical Civil Engineering Landmarks. This land was purchased after the American-Mexican War by Columbus Tustin who was a famed carriage builder in the 1870"s and grew quickly due to urbanization and the sprouting of orchards which made this city quite the spot to own a business to cater for the farmers.

The population of Tustin as of the year 2000 stood at 67,504 citizens. Of these, about 55% of the population is Caucasian, a little under 3% is black, while Hispanic or Latino make up 34% of the total population. The largest age group percentage is 25-44 which caters for 38.1% of the total population. The city covers an area of 29.5 square kilometers. It is a unique city because of the large number of trees there, so much so that it was named "City of Trees". It is run by a city council with 5 elected members. There is a mayor who is chosen from the council members.

Tustin, Orange County"s Old Town can be located at Main Street and El Camino Real and has historical spots dating back to the 1880"s. You will find the Tustin Area Historical Society whose museum shows a lot about this small town"s past.
