Pasatiempo Quick Facts
An unincorporated community in Santa Cruz County, the village of Pasatiempo, California, lies along State Route 17, between Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz. The village was founded by Marion Hollins, champion of the 1921 Women's U.S. Amateur Golf title. Ms. Hollins founded the town's centerpiece, the Pasatiempo Golf Club, and it opened in September 1929 with a match featuring legendary golfer Bobby Jones. The town lies just a couple miles inland from Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean's shores, and is a suburb of Santa Cruz, which is around a mile away. Pasatiempo is less than a mile east of University of California, Santa Cruz, and south of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
The town's signature Pasatiempo Golf Club remains a Top 100 Golf Club, and brings in a number of guests and visitors who are looking to try out the course's greens. Along with the course, the Inn at Pasatiempo offers accommodations. There are four hospitals not far in Santa Cruz, and Pasatiempo is just 45 minutes from the San Jose International Airport. The area is rich with wineries, and other attractions just minutes away include the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, Santa Cruz City Museum of Natural History and Santa Cruz Surfing Museum.
