Hi, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Jorge Martinez. I'm a full time Realtor at RE/MAX of N.O.C. We service the Orange County real estate market, including Norwalk, California. I have lived and worked in Orange County since 1989.

I like working in Orange County and Norwalk but most of all I like the people that I have met and come across in all these years.

I'm a member of the Pacific West Association of Realtors, California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Norwalk Facts, History, and Local Events Information

Norwalk, Los Angeles County, is well within a network of some of the biggest highways of Southern California, and situated in the greater Los Angeles area. It is about seventeen miles to the southeast of the city of Los Angeles, and sprawls over some nine square miles of one of the fastest developing areas in the state. Norwalk city is known for shopping centers, easy freeway network access, and easy commute to major urban areas with their industries and big corporations. Norwalk is surrounded by other urban centers like Downey to the Northwest, Artesia and Cerritos towards the South, Bellflower to its Southwest, and Santa Fe Springs to the North.

Norwalk, California Area Map Once a famous dairy center, surrounded by rich farms of sugar beet, Norwalk today has a few light industries but is primarily the preferred residential destination for people working in the L.A. area. Norwalk provides residents and visitors with easy access to the cultural life and the entertainment options of the city of Los Angeles, and the entire Los Angeles County, as well as Anaheim. It is within easy distance of the Hargitt House Museum, major theme parks including Disneyland, and many professional sports venues. The parks and community recreation programs consist of 12 parks spread over 87.3 acres. Consistent recent growth in the city’s business, education, law enforcement, and government sectors augur well for a bright future for Norwalk.

This community spreads over roughly ten square miles, and is a prospering, culturally rich city of over 100,000 people. Located at the perfect position with regards to both Los Angeles and the Orange Counties, the city is minutes away from the finest facilities and opportunities offered by both counties, from culture, to education, not to mention entertainment and recreation. Its location at the center of an ever expanding transportation network allows busi8nesses to grow, and residents to work conveniently in numerous locations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The Santa Ana, San Gabriel River, Century, Artesia, and Imperial Highways, the Firestone Boulevard, and two major Southern Los Angeles east-west routes, are only a part of its superb connectivity. In addition, Norwalk is connected to Los Angeles by rail, the Metro Green Line which continues to Redondo Beach, gives direct access to LAX, the MetroLink commuter rail system connects to Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego.

The area was historically inhabited by the Shoshonean Indian tribe. The very first European settlers, the Spanish, arrived in the 1760s, settled here, and founded missions. The El Camino Real crossed the area, and helped the missions to prosper. In 1784, the Spanish land grant to Manuel Nieto included the current location of Norwalk. When ranching and mining waned after the Mexican-American War, 1848, parts of the land in the area were sold as smaller parcels. After California’s inclusion in the Union, two brothers, named Sproul, of Oregon bought 463 acres in 1869. The Anaheim Branch Railroad passed through the passenger stop known as North-walk in 1873, and potential residents soon arrived. By 1890, Norwalk became a prosperous town, with fine homes, orchards, many farms and dairies. The 1950s saw a rise in the Hispanic population, and a shift towards a more residential community, and the 1990s brought a significant Asian influx. In recent times, Norwalk has been awarded the League of California Cities Helen Putnam Awards of Excellence, six times. With award winning facilities in the sectors of Community Services, Children, Youth & Families, and Public Safety, and a Distinguished Elementary School, Norwalk is a good place to live, and promises to be so for a long time to come.
