Boulder Creek, California, is a small community of just over 4,000 in Snata Cruz county that serves as the gateway town to Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It lies about 10 miles east from the coast of Monterey Bay, about 15 miles north of Santa Cruz and about 30 miles southwest of San Jose with a total area of 4.2 square miles. The town is in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains on Highway 9 in the San Lorenzo valley, at the junction of Bear Creek, Boulder Creek and the San Lorenzo River. Though small, the community is a peaceful one surrounded by the majestic redwoods and just a short distance from the beach. Attractions operating here include the Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club, Boulder Creek Branch Santa Cruz City-County Library, Boulder Creek Brewery and Forest Swimming Pool.

Those interested in learning more about the area's history can check out the Boulder Creek Museum.
