Home to over 100,000 residents, the city of Antioch, California, lies between Oakland and San Francisco, within the confines of Contra Costa County. A shopping center and a mall provide residents with a number of retail offerings. The city can be reached from out of town by connecting to either the San Francisco airport or the Oakland airport, through the Amtrak station located between Antioch and nearby Pittsburg, or by the area’s popular Bay Area Rapid Transit, also known as BART, rail system.

A half dozen elementary schools, four junior highs and three senior high schools serve the public students in the city, with around a dozen private schools offering alternatives. Two colleges offer those looking for a degree options within the city. Antioch is full of parks, with over 300 acres in 30 parks for visitors and residents to enjoy, in addition to at least four regional parks. A museum, art gallery, water park, and arts center host a number of cultural events and attractions. Antioch is among the first towns of California, begun in 1850, and is thus home to a number of historical sites and facts.
