A small town in the San Francisco Bay region, Albany, California, lies about halfway between the cities of Oakland and San Francisco, with over 16,000 residents. Several children also attend a nearby private Catholic school in Berkeley, located just south of here. The town is situated within the confines of Alameda County and is the site of the region’s only horse track, Golden Gate Fields.

The renowned University of California, Berkeley, is located just a few minutes away, and the college maintains a presence in Albany, with a student-housing complex located in the town that the college maintains. The closest hospital is nearby in Berkley. Scientific services is a major industry as the city is the location of the Western Regional Research Laboratory. Four parks are maintained in the town to offer space to relax in, and majestic views of the Golden Gate bridge and the bay can be taken in from here. Solano Avenue is the location of the town’s main shopping venues, and a festival is held on the street each year in September.
