Gordon has been a business owner since 1970 and currently owns commercial property which houses three of Edmond's finest restaurants. Gordon served 13 years on the Edmond Memorial Hospital Board, was on the Edmond Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Oklahoma Grocer's Association Board of Directors and was voted Edmond's Citizen of the Year in 1985. Gordon has two daughters: Stacey and Lesley and three grandkids: Dylan, Maggie and Myles.
